Cells
My current body of work explores the Cell (from Latin cella, meaning "small room”).
Cells are the basic structural, functional and biological unit of all known living organisms. Cells are the smallest unit of life that can replicate independently and are often called the "building blocks of life”.
I create my pieces using both vitrigraph and murrini techniques, whereby I melt glass to produce stringers and canes of various colours and thicknesses. I then slice these canes to create murrini and encapsulate them using various firing temperatures to replicate the fragility of cell formations. Pieces appear as free- floating cells.

I relocated from Dublin, Ireland to Adelaide, South Australia in 2012.
